About the role

This role is for an engineer who can take AI out of the demo and into a product. You will design LLM applications, retrieval systems, and agents that sit inside real business workflows. We care more about reliable outcomes than novelty: evaluation, cost, safety, and integration with the systems our clients already run.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement LLM applications, RAG pipelines, and tool-using AI agents
  • Build evaluation harnesses, prompt/version workflows, and monitoring for quality and cost
  • Integrate models with product backends, vector stores, and third-party tools
  • Choose the right approach for a problem: fine-tuning, retrieval, structured output, or classical ML
  • Work with full-stack engineers to ship AI features that are usable, testable, and maintainable
  • Advise clients on what is practical to automate and what should stay human-in-the-loop

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building ML or applied AI systems in production
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation
  • Strong Python skills and comfort with APIs, data pipelines, and cloud deployment
  • Ability to evaluate model quality, latency, cost, and failure modes
  • Clear communication with non-research stakeholders about trade-offs and risk
  • A track record of shipping AI features that users actually rely on

Nice to have

  • Experience with agent frameworks, function calling, and workflow orchestration
  • Familiarity with vector databases, document ingestion, and access-control for RAG
  • Background in classical ML, NLP, or computer vision where it still solves the problem
  • Exposure to TypeScript/Node so you can meet the product team in their stack
